With decades of experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD), Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is a leader in developing comprehensive, mission-ready training programs. ARA’s new Special Purpose Equipment Indoctrination Course delivers a robust curriculum that prepares warfighters for operational success in today’s dynamic threat environment.
ARA’s training experts will highlight the course in Booth 1 at INFOPAC 2025 Oct. 20-24 in Waikiki, HI. Trey Contreras, training and development manager, and Des Adams, operations, training and development specialist, answered questions about the course and how it can help units across the DoD achieve their training goals.
Q: What is ARA’s new Special Purpose Equipment Indoctrination Course?
A: Our 40-hour course fills a critical training gap by focusing on the practical use of technical effects, beyond just theory. It certifies supervisors and operators in tactical planning, and employment, set-up, maintenance, and re-deployment of specialized equipment, offering real-world, mission-focused experience. Our experts will deliver role-specific training and provide annual continuation training for doctrine and equipment updates. We also plan to expand the course with electives that evolve alongside emerging technologies, ensuring the modern warfighter remains equipped with the most advanced layered effects capabilities available.
Q: Who should take the Special Purpose Equipment Indoctrination Course?
A: The course is divided into three targeted modules: Module One is geared toward supervisors and focuses on operational planning, OPSEC, and display creation. Module Two is aimed at operators and emphasizes field assembly, troubleshooting, and equipment repair. Module Three is a combined event featuring a hands-on, evaluated culmination for both roles.
Q: What makes ARA uniquely qualified to deliver this training?
A: ARA’s course is designed and led by subject matter experts with over 20 years of experience in special operations and in the information environment. Our team has deep expertise in deception planning, operational execution, curriculum development, and instruction. This diverse background enables ARA to deliver training that reflects real-world complexities of integrating technical effects into multi-domain operations.
Q: How can I get this training for my unit?
A: Military and government personnel should coordinate with their unit training manager or register through official DoD channels. For on-location support, ARA’s Mobile Training Teams are available to deliver the course wherever your unit is based.
