ARA Awarded Contract for Advanced Laboratories for Analysis of Sensors Program

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is leveraging its broad expertise in radio frequency (RF) and Electro Optical technologies (OE) to help meet cutting edge and emerging warfighter needs.

ARA recently won a $49,600,000 contract for the Advanced Laboratories for Analysis of Sensors program (ALAS). The objective of the ALAS program is to conduct research and development (R&D) of innovative technological solutions to enhance RF, electro-optical (EO), and multi-spectral (MS) system technologies and sensors, along with advancing test measurement techniques and methods.

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) awarded the contract and work will be performed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.

The program encompasses a broad range of research and development activities across multiple disciplines that will include the application of existing techniques along with the development of new techniques in modeling, simulation, design, data collection, calibration, and test and evaluation of sensor systems and subsystems.

Enhanced RF sensing technologies and systems include: improved radar systems; exploration of RF waveforms; signal processing and algorithm exploration; sensor resource management (SRM); and improved EO-RF systems.

Advancing test and measurement techniques and methods includes: clutter characterization and mitigation; bistatic and multistatic measurement; distributed/multispectral sensing measurement; and improved antenna and radar cross section (RCS) measurement.

ARA is a recognized leader in electromagnetic research and technologies, offering a broad range of technical expertise related to electromagnetics to meet these evolving demands.
