FREQUENCY SELECTIVE SURFACES - SHORT COURSE
INTRODUCTORY FSS COURSE
The Applied Electromagnetics Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is offering a full day basic course (via webinar) entitled “Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS): Basic Theory and Design”. This introductory course will discuss various band-pass and band-stop filter design, as well as Circuit Analog (CA) Absorber design and power handling capability of FSS structures. This course is based on the work performed by the late Professor Benedikt Munk at The Ohio State University ElectroScience Laboratory. Our webinar is a “timely and authoritative work which explains what it takes to build different types of FSSs, including the hybrid radome and other recently declassified material”. Our one-day course is offered as a webinar for those participants interested in a top-level overview of this material.
ADVANCED FSS DESIGN COURSE
In addition to the basic webinar above, ARA also offers a separate two-and-a-half-day “Advanced FSS theory and design” course that greatly expands the depth and breadth of how to design FSS surfaces and structures. The advanced course describes the full mathematical derivation of various FSS designs, and will teach complete design examples using coded Periodic Moment Method (PMM) examples for radomes of various types. Antenna and radome engineers designing FSS surfaces would generally benefit from the fuller mathematical modelling and detailed design examples offered in the extended version. The 2.5-day version would likely be taught as an in-person course either in a central location or as an on-site offering for larger companies. The Base tuition for the advanced FSS course would be $1700. ARA can accommodate requests by companies to hold centralized training at a company site. For on-site courses to be offered, a 15 student minimum is required.

Typical Course Participant:
Any Scientist/Engineer/Student/Academician with a background in, or familiarity with, Electromagnetic Fundamentals who is looking for a broad exposure and understanding of the theory, and design principles associated with Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSSs). This would be especially valuable to newer DoD government/contractors working on low observable or complex antenna integration projects.

Course Cancellation and Refund Policy:
To receive a refund, you must email your request to FSSCourse@ara.com. You must provide your online order number in order for the refund to be issued. A refund will be sent to the credit card used to make the purchase. ARA will reply to your refund request email when the refund is issued. It may take 7-10 business days before the credit appears on your card. You will need to contact your credit card company if the credit has not appeared after this time.
