We develop and test specialized technology required to meet new and evolving military and civilian firefighting needs throughout the world.

ARA’s exploratory and advanced research has produced new chemical agents and fire-retardant materials, improved delivery systems, and specialized apparatus and techniques to counter fire threats to aircraft operations, special facilities, and military weapons systems and operations.

Using a combination of computer modeling and laboratory and field tests, we discover new materials that decrease fire hazards in facilities and onboard aircraft and develop advanced firefighting agents that are more effective and less damaging to the environment.

We improve the efficiency of existing firefighting systems and develop prototypes for new technology, including equipment for use in sensitive environments such as munitions plants and extreme environments such as Southwest Asia and Antarctica.

Among our novel designs are ultra-high pressure water and foam spray systems, ultra-high speed deluge systems, unmanned firefighting vehicles, next-generation deployable firefighting vehicles, and fire suppression systems for tactical vehicles.
