Inc. Magazine Ranks ARA Among Fastest Growing Private Companies in America

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is ranked on Inc. Magazine’s first-ever “Inc. 5,000” list of America’s fastest-growing private companies.

The Inc. 5,000 is an extension of the magazine’s annual Inc. 500 list. According the magazine’s website, the Inc. 5,000 includes the Inc. 500, but digs deeper to offer the most comprehensive look ever at the entrepreneurial engine driving the U.S. economy. With revenues of $169.6 million in 2006, ARA ranked number 4,572. ARA also ranked 58 out of 100 companies in the list’s “Top Companies in Security” category.

Inclusion on the list caps off an exciting year for ARA, which included acquisition of both Advanced Electromagnetics and Trident Consulting Group, Inc., as well as topping the New Mexico Technology Flying 40 list of the state’s fastest growing technology-based companies. Fiscal Year 2006 marked ARA’s 28th consecutive year of growth since its founding in 1979.

The Inc. 5,000 companies were chosen after extensive screening and interviews by reporters and writers for Inc.com, and inclusion on the list is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards for high-growth companies in the private sector.

“The Inc. 5,000 provides the most comprehensive look ever at the most important part of the economy—the entrepreneurial part,” said Inc. 5,000 Project Manager Jim Melloan. “The expansion of the list has allowed us to tell the stories of larger companies, older companies, and a wealth of companies that are underreported in the business media.”

The 2007 Inc. 5,000 list measures revenue growth from 2003 through 2006. To qualify, companies had to be U.S.-based and privately held, independent (not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies) as of December 31, 2006, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2003, and $2 million in 2006.
