ARA Engineer Co-Authors Book on Human Cognition in Information-Age Battles

Doug Peters, New England Division, has co-authored a book that was recently published titled, Battle of Cognition: The Future Information-Rich Warfare and the Mind of the Commander. The book, edited by Alexander Kott, was inspired in part by two large research programs conducted by the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), and focuses on evaluating command and control through experimentation. Specifically, Doug contributed to chapters on experimental design, the study of situational awareness, experimental findings on situational awareness, and the study of decision-making. The approaches and findings detailed in this book will be of interest to both critics and advocates of network-enabled warfare.

For Doug, the book was a purely public service effort, as all royalties received from its sale are being donated to the Fisher House, an organization that assists families of wounded soldiers. The book is available from your favorite on-line bookstores, including Amazon.com.
