ARA’s Board of Directors has announced the promotion of North Florida Division Manager Glen McDonald to Vice President. Glen has worked for ARA since 1991, when he joined the Gulf Coast Division as a chemist investigating perchlorate biodegradation processes, one of which he later patented. He was promoted to Division Manager in 2003. Under Glen’s leadership, NFD secured several major contracts and experienced 23 percent growth in fiscal year 2005. Glen holds both a B.S. in Biochemistry and an M.B.A. from Florida State University. His research at ARA includes laboratory feasibility studies for biological destruction of perchlorate in contaminated groundwater and process treatment effluents. He has executed multiple Department of Defense funding, organization and technical information research and consulting projects for the Air Force Research Laboratory at Tyndall AFB, FL and was the initial business lead for all of NFD’s contracts with the Naval Coastal Systems Station in Panama City, FL. Glen served as business consultant for the concept, start-up and operation of the Coastal Operations Institute, a non-profit organization located at the Naval Coastal Systems Station. He has also played a major role in developing and executing a congressional relations program for ARA. Glen participates in and chairs many community civic and military organizations. He is currently chairman of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Bay Defense Alliance, Military Affairs Committee and the Bay Education Foundation. Glen was selected as a Richard L. McLaughlin Volunteer of the Year in 2000 by the Florida Economic Development Council. The Council’s highest award, it recognizes achievements in furthering economic development in Florida.
