Commitment and Development

In today’s rapidly changing security environment, Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is a worldwide leader in providing end-to-end security solutions that are tailored to meet your specific needs. An industry leading research and development background allows us to create innovative solutions to many of today’s toughest protection dilemmas. We provide Risk Analysis, Conceptual Security System Designs, Final Designs, Security System Installation and Integration, and Contractor Logistics Maintenance to ensure installed systems remain mission ready. So whether at home or working overseas, for individuals, their vehicles, their offices or hotel rooms, or even an entire facility, ARA security solutions are uniquely designed to meet your personal and corporate needs.

RAPID Systems - Remote Automated Portable Intrusion Detection

Effective and efficient protection of personnel and resources within a defined area remains a critical objective for both civilian and military organizations. The Remote Automated Portable Intrusion Detection (RAPID™) system is a cost-effective, mobile, and highly capable solution for wide area intrusion detection. The universal radar mounting platform supports multiple sensor types capable of monitoring activity on areas such as military bases, airfields, ports, power plants, and critical infrastructure.

RDA - Remote Detection of Activity

ARA’s new Remote Detection of Activity (RDA) system advances the state-of-the art in Unattended Ground Sensor (UGS) systems with dramatically longer transmission ranges than other currently available UGS sensor systems.  Ideally suited for multiple applications due to its unprecedented range, the extended range RF technology fits easily into very compact packaging, has intrinsic anti-jam and low probability of intercept properties, and can be produced at relatively low cost.  The new system is available for high volume production and meets requirements set forth by the Army’s Rapid Equipping Force and the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory.

VIPSKIT (VIP Security Kit) - Surveillance System

The VIP Security Kit, or VIPSKIT, is a portable, fully-customizable, rapidly deployable security system developed by ARA for monitoring temporary facilities and vehicles.  Comprised of Wi-Fi network cameras, miniature concealable RF cameras, and a suite of RF sensors, VIPSKIT sends ALERT messages to cell phones, PDAs and email whenever there is any indication of tampering or other suspect activities.  VIPSKIT provides you the assurance that your personal security and the security of your information is not at risk.

IBDSS (Integrated Base Defense Security System (IBDSS)

For larger facilities, ARA’s Integrated Base Defense Security System (IBDSS) provides wide area intrusion detection, assessment and communications for state-of-the-art protection of resources, personnel, and critical infrastructure.  IBDSS is scalable to provide all-weather, day/night wide area intrusion detection and immediate visual assessment, integrating ARA-recommended or user specified intrusion detections systems such as: ground based radars; mobile, deployable detection capability such as RAPID™; unattended ground sensors such as the Remote Detection of Activity (RDA) radios; buried leaky coaxial system such as OmniTrax; Fiber Optic Intrusion Detection System (FOIDS); video motion detection; and existing legacy systems.  IBDSS can operate as a standalone system or can be integrated with existing annunciators such as Vindicator, Advantor, or Diebold.  IBDSS integrates the detection and assessment capabilities to provide a real-time, complete operational picture for the response force coordinators, additional/higher level command centers, and response vehicles.  IBDSS combines the latest in detection and assessment technology using FIPS 140-2 validated components that can be Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) certified to connect directly to the Global Information Grid (GIG) or installation network.  In addition, IBDSS is IPv6 capable and integrates secure wireless and broadband communications which can reduce infrastructure costs.  Our systems allow resource owners the ability to detect, distinguish, communicate, and direct personnel to counter threats to resources while meeting information assurance requirements.
