ARA provides a broad range of technical expertise in defense and aerospace technologies, civil technologies, computer software and simulation, systems analysis, environmental technologies, and testing and measurement. ARA also provides sophisticated technical products for environmental site characterization, pavement analysis, and robotics. The company was founded in 1979 in Albuquerque, NM, and now employees more than 1,100 people in offices throughout the United States and Canada.
ARA is recognized as one of the premier companies in Computational Electromagnetic Modeling by virtue of its leading role in the design, development, and use of the GEMACS (General Electromagnetic Model for the Analysis of Complex Systems) computer program and by its CEM Framework collaborative engineering interface.
The Computational and Applied Electromagnetics Group is led by Dr. Edgar L. (Buddy) Coffey, who has been active in electromagnetic modeling and simulation since 1972. He has spent the last 30 years developing and expanding the GEMACS computer program. More recently, he developed the CEM Framework which is being used by DoD and NASA agencies as well as their contractors, universities, and private consultants. Dr. Coffey was recognized by the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society in 1993 with the Technical Achievement Award. He appears in Who's Who in the Southwest.
