Holidays and Personal Leave |

Holidays Regular, full-time employees receive nine paid holidays per year. Six of these holidays are taken on Federal holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Three holidays are designated as "floating holidays." Division Managers set the floating holidays for their division, but most take the day after Thanksgiving and two days between Christmas and New Year's Day. You may substitute religious holidays for any of the floating holidays with prior approval of your Division Manager. Personal Leave Personal Leave combines the traditional Annual Leave and Sick Leave and may be used for any purpose, including illness. ARA's Personal Leave accrual schedule is shown in the following tables. Exempt employees:
Non-exempt employees:
Up to 400 hours of unused Personal Leave may be carried over into the next fiscal year. Employees may donate their personal leave to another employee in need. Bereavement Leave Bereavement Leave allows employees paid time off to travel to, plan for and attend memorial services for immediate family members. Up to 3 days may be approved by Division Managers depending on the specific circumstances. Bereavement Leave is in addition to Personal Leave. Immediate family members include: the employee’s spouse, children, parents, parents-in-law, siblings, siblings-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, and any relative permanently residing in the employee’s household, or with whom the employee resides. |
