Showcase Project

RNCSAA

Problem Statement and Objectives

The purpose of this project was to develop options to address Air Pathways' architectural gaps for non-stream of commerce-illicit transportation of nuclear weapons and radioactive devices, in monitoring and evaluating the probability of a nuclear attack. This effort also expanded on previous work done by ARA.

  • developing scenarios for illicit nuclear weapon movement with General Aviation

  • observing gap analysis of existing safeguards

  • developing & refining options to resolve gaps

  • conducting interagency workshops for government agencies

  • developing coordinated high-level policy documents

Risk of nuclear attack is small, but increasing.  The impact of such an attack would be horrific and defending against it is difficult.
