Battelle needed arena testing of explosive 155-mm sized projectiles for
required government testing. ARA provided outdoor explosive test facilities, field test engineering and support personnel, and instrumentation equipment and logistics.

• Determine the velocities, masses, and spatial distribution
  of fragments generated by 155-mm size artillery projectiles

• Evaluate the effectiveness of steel reinforced concrete, HESCO Bastion, and RHA steel plate in mitigating and/or defeating terminal effects of 155-mm sized projectiles.
