Ballistic Missile Performance Evaluation Tool

Problem Statement and Objectives

AFRL/VSEB needed a new tool for their Integrated Sensor Modeling and Effectiveness (ISME) architecture in order to evaluate effectiveness of ballistic missiles’ reentry vehicles.
  •  Increase effectiveness
  •  Enhance capability

Results and Benefits

ARA enhanced ISMET’s capabilities so it could be used for trade-off studies by increasing its executive speed and the ability to stochastically and parametrically change input parameters and perform analyses. We added multiple sensors (either on or off the weapon platform) to determine if this would increase the effectiveness of the weapon system. The developed device incorporated sensor modeling and automatic target recognition to help determine the best sensor/ATR types for these vehicles.
