Find, Characterize, Assess (FCA) Technical Support

Problem Statement and Objectives

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) plays a central role for the Department of Defense in reducing the full spectrum of threats resulting from foreign use of Hard and Deeply Buried Targets (HDBTs).

DTRA’s Technology Development Directorate, Systems Applications Division, seeks to enhance Hard and Deeply Buried Target Defeat (HDBTD) capabilities through a Find-Characterize-Assess (FCA) technology development activity in the Special Projects Branch.

ARA provided technical support to the FCA Project, using proven system engineering processes, procedures, analysis techniques, and tools.

  • Identify technologies that support warfighter and intelligence community requirements to find, characterize and assess hard and deeply buried targets (HDBTs).

  • Define systems (sensors, signal and data processing, information fusion tools) that support warfighter and intelligence community requirements

The FCA Technical Support team will use ARA's integrated model-based systems analysis framework to develop sound FCA systems for DTRA.
