Cognitive Science

Gary Klein's journey began over 20 years ago when he began to carve a new path in the study of human decision making. Dr. Klein and other researchers created Naturalistic Decision Making, a paradigm that examines the interplay of context and cognition together. Sources of Power, a chronicle of Klein's work, is a rich information source that explores Naturalistic Decision Making in depth and illuminates the power of experience, a power that shapes how we interact with the world around us.

We have a focused innovation strategy: to apply an archive of real world research to the development of innovative, decision-centered, solutions in support of human performance and decision making. We believe a background in cognitive research and a continual mindset to push our research to new levels and within new domains feeds the development of our innovative solutions. Our goal is to maintain a grounding in cognitive research that provides a foundation for our decision- and user-centered solutions.

Dynamic replanning, cognition in peace-keeping, team adaptability, and military decision making are just a few areas within which we focus our research. To inquire about the above named research areas or to learn about additional areas of research, contact Dr. Winston Sieck of Klein Associates a Division of Applied Research Associates, at 937-873-8166.
