Andrews AFB Integrated Base Defense Security System
Problem Statement and Objectives
Andrews AFB required a security upgrade to a highly integrated security system with a command and control display that provides maximum assessment capability with minimum training for operator and maintenance personnel.
The integrated security system design directly reflects customer system specification requirements and achieves the effectiveness levels outlined in the Andrews AFB Systems Effectiveness Assessment.
Objectives:
- Integrated Solution
- Enhance Security System
- Total system control for a single operator.
The system design enables more effective use of security forces personnel due to the automated detection, tracking, visual assessment, and entry control functions of the system. The design philosophy allows rapid configuration of sensors and facilitates a distributed, network-centric command and control structure consistent with IBD 2020 architecture. The design allows for rapid technology upgrades and insertion and maintains a physical separation between the communications system and the base LAN to control information security risks, manage quality of service, and maximize data throughput.
Results and Benefits The system will vastly increase operational effectiveness of security forces:
- Earlier detection of threats approaching the flight line perimeter.
- Geo-spatial location and tracking of threats.
- Situation awareness picture distributed to emergency responders/base commander.
