Interviewing with ARA
ARA is a company that challenges employees to achieve excellence. At ARA, we hire proven performers, from new grads to seasoned professionals. Often, employees may be responsible for briefing co-workers, teammates, customers, potential clients, etc. As a result, with ARA’s interview process, certain job positions may require the candidates to give a 20-minute presentation in person as part of the ARA (SED) hiring process. You can expect the audience to consist of the interviewers as well as potential co-workers. Check with your ARA contact person to see if this will be part of your interview process. If it is, then follow the instructions below.
Interview Instructions:
- Develop a technical presentation in PowerPoint that shows your participation in a current or past problem/task/project where you were required to break the problem up into smaller pieces (or identify disparate parts of a problem). Include helpful graphs, charts, and illustrations.
- Demonstrate how you solved each piece yourself or as part of a team and combined the solutions together into a deliverable (hardware, software, report, etc.).
- Explain the success or failure, the reasons for such, and any lessons learned.
- Be prepared for a question and answer session following the presentation.
- Your briefing should consider the knowledge level of the audience. The audience will likely be comprised of engineers and scientists whose education ranges from the Bachelors to PhD level.
To Bring:
In addition to the presentation, you will need to bring the following items to the interview if possible:
- Undergraduate transcript (does not have to be official/sealed)
- Contact information for 3 professional references (try to obtain at least 1 former manager/ supervisor)
