Dr. Frank Maestas, Corporate Development Officer and Executive Vice President of Applied Research Associates, Inc., highlighted the diverse and important work that ARA employees are doing as well as the company's growth during tough economic times at Albuquerque Economic Development's Quarterly Investors' Luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 9.

He spoke to the gathering of the state's top business and political leaders at Sandia Resort and Casino about the key areas of ARA's work, including:

  • National defense and aerospace
  • Homeland safety and security
  • Transportation engineering and safety
  • Commercial and consulting services
  • Energy and environmental services

Dr. Maestas underscored that ARA strives to be the company government and industry turns to for innovative technologies and solutions to critical human problems that will make the world safer, make people more secure and make a difference in daily lives.

He acknowledged ARA has kept a relatively low profile even though it has achieved steady growth with $240 million in revenue during its latest fiscal year. Dr. Maestas also said ARA is poised to achieve $1 billion in revenue by 2020 if the company maintains its consistent pace of growth.

For four consecutive years, ARA has earned kudos statewide by placing first in the New Mexico Technology Flying 40 rankings of New Mexico's top revenue-producing technology companies.

Albuquerque Economic Development, Inc. is a private, nonprofit membership organization whose mission is to assist existing companies and recruit business and industry to generate quality job opportunities in the Albuquerque metropolitan area.
