Applied Research Associates, Inc. Acquires Geo-Marine, Inc.
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (July 20, 2009) — Applied Research Associates, Inc. announced it has acquired Geo-Marine, Inc. (GMI), a leading engineering, energy, and environmental technology firm headquartered in Plano, TX. Founded in 1972, GMI provides diversified engineering design, construction management, environmental planning & programming, and related technology services to the public and private sectors worldwide.
The acquisition of GMI directly supports ARA's strategic priorities; including growing and diversifying our business, expanding our existing client base, expanding our current technology base, and helping ARA achieve its long-term revenue goals. With the acquisition of GMI, ARA immediately becomes a prime contract holder at the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment (AFCEE), the single "clearinghouse" for execution of all Air Force Civil Engineering requirements and a major recipient of stimulus funding. An established presence in Department of Defense and commercial markets, GMI operates five major groups including Energy and Construction, Planning and Analysis, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources, and Environmental Services.
"We are excited to be included in the ARA family and look forward to expanding our presence with ARA throughout the technical community" said Mark Tanner, President of GMI. GMI operates from twelve locations in seven states nationwide. Geo-Marine will retain their name and operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of ARA.
