ISC / UFC Security Consulting Services

ARA’s extensive knowledge and background contributing to and working with the Interagency Security Committee (ISC) Security Design Criteria provides our professionals with valuable insight into the ISC’s anticipated new documents, “The Design-Basis Threat,” and “Physical Security Criteria for Federal Facilities.” Our intimate involvement with the assessment, design, and implementation of ISC standards adds an in-depth understanding of the criteria’s impact to an organization’s security management program.

ARA is a recognized leader in security engineering and security risk management. This is evident by our ISC related projects for numerous federal agencies, architects, and developers. We strive to provide best value solutions which meet the intent of the ISC criteria.

In addition to our ISC work, ARA has provided services to meet the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and has authored the UFC document, “Design of Buildings to Resist Progressive Collapse,” UFC 4-023-03. The UFC is a similar design concept to the ISC, but applies to DoD facilities. ARA has an extensive past project history implementing the requirements of UFC documents.

Our services include significant experience in the following areas:

ARA’s Security Engineering Group performs analysis on explosive effects to structures. These analyses include blast pressures applied to windows, roofs, facade, and structural elements. Progressive collapse design is also a specialty area.

Our Risk Management and Training Group provides security risk assessments specifically tailored to the client’s organization and mission. Our team can address the risk to the organization, as well as the facility, from a range of threats. Additionally, we can provide training to an organization’s personnel for conducting security risk assessments on their own facilities.

Managing the resulting data from numerous assessments across the organization and monitoring ISC implementation is a daunting task. ARA’s Computer Sciences Group works closely with the Risk Management and Training Group and the Security Engineering Group to create software products capable of collecting assessment data and compiling the information into a user-friendly database for easy tracking and planning. An assessment and management tool provides an organization with the ability to analyze ISC compliance across the organization and quickly provide status reports to oversight agencies.

ARA’s board certified staff of security professionals provide a comprehensive knowledge-base to train stakeholders in the requirements of the ISC criteria. In many cases, an advanced technical background in blast engineering is required to comply with the criteria. Stakeholders and program managers need to understand the intent of these requirements to adequately oversee and review the results provided by these specialty consultants. Additionally, the criteria touch on a variety of specialized security topics. ARA has the expertise to provide in-depth training to assist agencies with the application of the ISC criteria.
